Are You Pursuing This Dream?
Seems like we all carry within us a basic urge for independence. This is a strong enough drive in some that leads to being self-employed, to building a business of your own, to doing whatever it takes to achieve true independence.
For others a high level of frustration is the result if this basic urge is unfulfilled. When this happens, if motivated, a few individuals will create the kind of action required to satisfy the urge.
That’s one of the most fascinating aspects of the human psyche: what drives us to take certain actions?
Since the dawn of civilization our ancient ancestors responded to the daily challenges of life they faced by being inventive. They created tools in response to specific problems. Methods of communication were created. The basic structure of our societies evolved. Trading items of value become, over time, our current system of trade and finance
And throughout it all, individuals rose up to lead in certain areas, be it in thought, in science, in religion, in government, in business.
Let’s focus on leadership in business.
Just as it does in the corporate world, in the home business arena, success is defined by the role of business leader. To be truly successful as a self-employed entrepreneur, leadership qualities that are evident to anyone meeting that person must be developed.
Think about this: Do you have a burning desire to be self-employed? Yet you find yourself working in a situation where that dream is, at this point, unfulfilled? If you relate to this, you’re not alone.
If you are in this situation and really want to change it, here’s some advice: Work on developing your leadership skills.
If you’ve been looking for a business opportunity this may sound strange. I know you might have spent many hours searching for the right opportunity. You may have the strong urge for financial and time freedom, to create a successful home based business. These are very worthwhile goals.
What you must realize is that the foundation of success in your own business, whatever it may be, is your leadership skill. So while you search for the right business, developing those skills is essential.
If you don’t project those strong leadership qualities nobody is going to believe you’re serious about your business. You need to display confidence. You need to develop qualities such as decisiveness. You need to have solid convictions about the choices you make. Your business partners and associates need to know you are someone they can confidently follow.
Think about yourself and who you choose to follow. Would you follow a “non-leader”? Someone who couldn’t make a firm decision, who was insecure in their choices, who was unsure about which way to turn? The majority of people, if they start following someone they thought was a leader but turned out not to be, quickly abandon that person in favor of a leader to follow.
So, do you see my point? This is why developing your leadership qualities while you search for the right business opportunity is so important. When you find it, you need to be ready. That will not be the time to start working on your leadership skills! When you find that opportunity you need to be ready to demonstrate that yes, you are a leader, and move forward with conviction and confidence! That will give you the momentum to surge ahead to your success.
